Figueira Da Foz
Figueira da Foz commands the mouth of the Mondego River which began near the city of Guarda and passed by Coimbra. The main industries are fishing and shipyards. It is from here that the British General, Wellington, landed with the first British troops in August 1808 to begin to drive the French from Portugal and Spain.
